Well you were born as a thought on a plain
when I was bored or lonely, there all the same
You had a paper house with paper friends
and a paper bass for the weekends
All you could do was just sit there and smile
So I thought I'd just leave you, for a while
But your paper world was a paper zoo
and you wondered when I'd get back to you
you said
Oh O-O-O-Oh what have you done to me
Oh O-O-O-Oh what have you done to me
With no one to blame it wasn't my fault
and how could this happen to me
maybe I just wasn't careful enough
No matter what happens you'll still be
My Paper Child
You touched the window, you could feel the wind
blowing in the air and in your skin
you looked up, and the sky was grey
but you'd be real quick, well that's what they say
Once outside, you couldn't wait
It was long lost freedom from being fake.
But then a raindrop hit your head
and I found you on the ground, you were faded
you said
Oh O-O-O-Oh what have you done to me
Oh O-O-O-Oh what have you done to me
With no one to blame it wasn't my fault
and how could this happen to me
maybe I just wasn't careful enough
No matter what happens you'll still be
My Paper Child
When I found you, you were soaking wet
So I got out a fan and my pencil set
I drew some band-aids but they wouldn't do
You had probably thought I'd abandoned you
The paper doctor came to have a look
but he just stared at me, and his head shook
Then he left me, standing there
I should have never drawn you, should have never cared
I said
Oh O-O-O-Oh what have you done to me
I said
Oh O-O-O-Oh what have you done to me
With no one to blame it wasn't my fault
and how could this happen to me
maybe I just wasn't careful enough
No matter what happens you'll still be
My Paper Child
